EW AAO PREVIEW 53 The Crown Fountain The Crown Fountain is one of Millennium Park's most popular attractions. Made up of two 50-foot glass towers at each end of a superfi- cial reflecting pool, the fountain has multiple functions. First, it's a work- ing fountain from mid-spring to mid-fall. Second, it's a massive piece of modern art. And third and per- haps most interesting, the fountain acts as a projector, showing a slideshow of the faces of 1,000 Chicagoans. Each image is left on the screen for up to 5 minutes at a time. Introducing tallest buildings in the world, such as the John Hancock Center, making it an ideal location for sightseeing. Millennium Park 201 E. Randolph St. 312-742-1168 www.millenniumpark.org At nearly 25 acres, Chicago's Millen- nium Park is an ideal destination to view some truly unique architecture and landscape design. Frequently de- scribed as "art as you walk" by local residents, the park boasts towering metallic abstract structures such as the Cloud Gate, designed by British artist Anish Kapoor. The 110-ton construction is often referred to as the "kidney bean" thanks to its dis- tinctive shape. The park also features a number of pavilions catered to the arts. Patrons can attend programs ranging in variety from classical ballet to folk music at the Harris Theatre or view a public art exhibit at the Boeing Galleries. There are also places to eat within the park. In addition to the concession carts located along the Chase Promenade, a sit-down eatery called the Park Grill & Café is on the grounds. Jay Pritzker Pavilion Home to the Grant Park Orchestra & Chorus, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion is an enormous, stainless-steel concert hall that hosts free concerts and other events. The pavilion seats 4,000 and can accommodate up to 7,000 more on its far-reaching lawn space. Be sure to check the Millen- nium Park website for event listings. Lurie Garden With five acres of breathtaking eco- logical bliss, visitors to Lurie Garden will most likely forget they are walk- ing through a major city. Depending on the time of year, the garden will feature plant life ranging from crocus and tulips in the spring to shrubs and grasses in the winter. by The same great performance for less High quality reusable ophthalmic surgical instruments Surgical stainless steel tips and durable handles made of a composite polymer Performance equivalent to the best conventional, all-metal instruments Significantly lower priced than all-metal instruments Eliminate time and expense of dealing with misaligned, bent, damaged, or lost instruments Moria, Inc. • 1-800-441-1314 • moria@moriausa.com • www.moria-surgical.com
