September 2012 Winter Update 2013 to descend upon Florida by Jena Passut EyeWorld Editor T he location may change, but organizers promise the spirit of the 2013 ASCRS•ASOA Winter Update meeting will remain the same as in years past. Attendees will enjoy plenty of collaboration and networking. "It's a very interactive meeting in which there's a lot of face-to-face and one-on-one time with the faculty physicians, both in the sessions and during some of the social events that are planned," said Stephen S. Lane, M.D., Winter Update program co-chair, and clinical professor of ophthal- mology, University of Minnesota. The 6th annual Winter Update will be held Feb. 14-18 at Turnberry Isle Miami, Aventura, Fla. There will be two educational tracks—one for physicians and the other for admin- istrators. For physicians, the Winter Update program uses panel and roundtable discussions, as well as de- bates and video case presentations. "Essentially Winter Update is covering all the nuts and bolts, from the technical aspects of what we do clinically to some of the ethical and moral challenges that we have as well," Dr. Lane said. "The ophthalmic administra- tors' program provides in-depth education and extensive faculty and peer-to-peer interaction so that the educational experience is immedi- ately relevant to your practice," said Laureen Rowland, CAE, executive director, ASOA. Particularly exciting for physi- cian attendees will be the return of faculty member Robert H. Osher, M.D., professor of ophthalmology, University of Cincinnati, and continued on page 10 Indication: The LenSx® Laser is indicated for use in patients undergoing cataract surgery for removal of the crystalline lens.
