Choose from a variety of walking tours of cemeteries and other spooky places, or customize your own tour. You can choose to tour during the day or wait until night falls. French Quarter Phantoms 625 Saint Phillip St. 504-666-8300 www.frenchquarterphantoms.com Choose from a number of themed walking tours, including the Ghost and Vampire Tour, the True Crime Tour, the St. Louis #1 Cemetery Tour, the Saints and Sinners Tour, or Tour Treme. These guided tours offer a bit of history and a bit of fright. Prices start at $20 ($16 for some if you book online). City tours City Segway Tours 214 Decatur St. 504-619-4162 neworleans.citysegwaytours.com There are many options to tour New Orleans by Segway. Segway tours can last anywhere from one to three hours, and there is also the option for an evening tour or private tour via Segway. Prices range from $45 to $75 depending on the experience you're looking for. Hop-On Hop-Off New Orleans Sightseeing Tour 504-207-6200 www.citysightseeingneworleans.com See the city at your own pace with a hop-on hop-off tour aboard a double-decker bus. Stops include Canal Street, Magazine Street, the French Market, and many others. Choose what you want to visit and get off the bus there. Buses stop at locations every 30 minutes. A one-day ticket is $29, and a one-week option for seven consecutive days is $39. Streetcars www.norta.com Take the St. Charles Line, Canal Street Line, Loyola/UPT Line, or Riverfront Line to experience one of New Orleans' streetcars. Standard fare for a streetcar is just $1.25, or get a "Jazzy Pass" for a one-day ($3), three-day ($9), or 31-day ($55) pass to ride the buses and streetcars in the city. Plantation tours Destrehan Plantation 13034 River Rd. Laura Plantation 2247 Highway 18 Vacherie, LA 70090 225-265-7690 www.lauraplantation.com This Creole plantation is a historic site that was a sugar plantation. Take a tour of the house, plantation, slave cabins, and gardens. Admission is $20 for adults, and tours begin daily at 10:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. Laura Plantation is just about an hour from New Orleans. Oak Alley Plantation 3635 Highway 18 Vacherie, LA 70090 225-265-2151 www.oakalleyplantation.com Named for its alley of oak trees, the plantation was built in 1837. It has been used in a number of modern day media, including as a setting for the film Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles. From November to February, the plantation is open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tours of the grounds and house are available for $20 for adults. Oak Alley is just under an hour from New Orleans. Gray Line Plantation Tours 1 Toulouse St. 504-569-1401 www.graylineneworleans.com/ plantation-tours.html Take a tour of the Laura Plantation or Oak Alley Plantation leaving from New Orleans. Gray Line also offers a number of other tour options around New Orleans, including swamp tours, walking tours, evening tours, cruises, and combination tours. The price for plantation tours is $58 per adult. The Old River Road Plantation Adventure 2041 Canal St. 504-671-8687 www.plantationadventure.com Choose from a variety of tour packages to see different locations. Among the stops are Oak Alley Plantation, San Francisco Plantation, Laura Plantation, Evergreen Plantation, and St. Joseph Plantation. Several of the tour pairings include the option for a tour of the cypress swamp and wetlands as well. This tour company also offers a New Orleans city tour, cruises, and other swamp tours.
