Your new ordering information: 866-906-8080 customersupport@beaver-visitec.com www.odysseymed.com www.beaver-visitec.com On July 31, the House Energy and Commerce Committee unanimously passed legislation that would repeal the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula and replace it with a Medicare physician pay system based on quality and performance. The bipartisan bill, H.R. 2810, the Medicare Patient Access and Quality Improvement Act, passed the committee with a manager's amendment making technical corrections to the version passed earlier by the Committee's Health Subcommittee. ASCRS and the Alliance of Specialty Medicine have been active participants in the development of this bill over the past few months. ASCRS and the Alliance support the effort to repeal the SGR and are pleased that many of their suggestions have been included in the bill; however, there are still some provisions that ASCRS will continue to advocate be eliminated or modified as the process continues. A summary of the bill's provisions is available at www.ascrs.org.
