UPDATE by Denise Monasterio ASCRS Marketing and Communications Manager Combined Ophthalmic Symposium offers education for the entire practice A session during the Ophthalmologist Program at the 2017 Combined Ophthalmic Symposium Young Eye Surgeons (YES) wet lab at the 2017 Combined Ophthalmic Symposium Source: ASCRS R egistration is open for the 2018 Combined Ophthal- mic Symposium (COS), sponsored by ASCRS, ASOA, and the American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses (ASORN). This annual event is being held August 24–26 at the JW Marriott in Austin, Texas. The program offers opportunities for integrated staff development, featuring tracks for ophthalmolo- gists, young eye surgeons, practice management staff, optometrists, and nurses and technicians. The format allows COS attendees to maximize their weekend learning experience by providing intensive educational programming for everyone involved in the ophthalmic practice. Ophthalmologist Program The 2018 Ophthalmologist Program is aimed at anterior segment sur- geons, comprehensive ophthalmolo- gists, and ophthalmic residents and fellows with an interest in anterior segment care. Topics covered in the program include: • Cataract Surgery: Upping Your Game • Premium Cataract Surgery: Setting and Meeting Expectations • Glaucoma: The Pressure is On! • Video Session: Was that a Good Idea? • Cornea Controversies • Refractive Surgery Pearls for the Comprehensive Ophthalmologist • Ocular Surface Management: Polishing the Mirror • What Am I Doing NEW in 2018? The Future of Ophthalmology The Ophthalmologist Pro- gram will be held Saturday, August 25, from 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 26, from 8:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. The 2018 program chairs are Douglas Koch, MD, Sum- itra Khandelwal, MD, and Douglas Rhee, MD. They are joined by an es- teemed faculty who will deliver the quality educational programming for which ASCRS is known.
