Young Eye Surgeons (YES) eyePAC Reception Advocacy is important at all lev- els, and it's never too early to get involved. ASCRS eyePAC will be hosting a special reception exclu- sively for ASCRS YES members on Saturday, May 6, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. in the YES Connect Lounge at the Los Angeles Convention Center. YES members who contribute to of Representatives, and was the first Republican to hold that seat for con- secutive terms. During his tenure, he served on the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee, played a central role in Medicare and health care debates, and worked with ASCRS and the Patient Ac- cess Coalition on a patients' bill of rights. In 2004, Dr. Coburn was elected to represent Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate. He was reelected in 2010 and retired in 2015, returning full time to his medical practice in Muskogee, Oklahoma. 2017 eyePAC Reception From 7:00–9:00 p.m. on Advocacy Day, eyePAC contributors will be recognized and celebrated at the eyePAC Reception. eyePAC is ASCRS' voluntary, nonpartisan Political Action Committee. The event will be held at the extraordinary Grammy Museum. T he ASCRS•ASOA Sympo- sium & Congress always has much to offer attendees, and one new feature of the 2017 meeting is Advocacy Day, which will be held on May 5. Advocacy Day includes a series of government relations events aimed at increasing membership engagement in ASCRS' year-round advocacy efforts. Special Joint ASCRS•ASOA Government Relations General Session The Special Joint ASCRS•ASOA Gov- ernment Relations General Session will be held from 5:00–6:00 p.m. on Advocacy Day, and will feature Tom Coburn, MD, former U.S. senator from Oklahoma. No separate regis- tration is required.
