This approval follows the expiration of a patent issued to Massachusetts General Hospital that restricted Quantel Medical and several other laser manufacturers from marketing SLT within the U.S. The design of the laser is adaptable to a physician's current slit lamp, eliminating the need for dedicated space. The compact design also allows for easy transport and includes convenient storage accessories when not in use. Patient Education Concepts launched a new iPad app, Sight Selector Subscription. Eightyfour patient education videos are available for less than $1/day for up to five devices through iTunes. Additionally, the app allows practices to customize the app with their practice name and print handouts on each topic via a wireless printer.
