ROGRAM PREVIEW P ASCRS Refractive Day This year's ASCRS Refrac- tive Day features a program highlighting the topics of refractive corneal surgery, premium refractive lens surgery, tips, pearls, and take-home messages, and choosing and using the right IOL. These will include ASCRS Refractive Day, ASCRS Glaucoma Day, and Cornea Day. In these programs, world-renowned experts will highlight the most important topics in cornea and lens-based refractive surgery, glauco- ma management and surgery, and cornea and cat- aract surgery. Attendees can register for ASCRS Subspecialty Day and access all three programs. "The ASCRS ASOA Annual Meeting is the one mandatory meeting to attend if you are an anterior segment surgeon," said Eric Donnenfeld, MD, one of the program chairs for ASCRS Re- fractive Day. "The entire meeting is dedicated to improving our surgical skills, patient care, practice management, and catching up with old and new friends. Subspecialty Day is the one day for a deep dive into your specific area of interest." Subspecialty Day preview ASCRS Glaucoma Day At this year's Glaucoma Day there will be a joint session from the American Glauco- ma Society and ASCRS on optimizing surgical outcomes of cataract surgery in complex glaucoma patients. There will also be video case presentations, an international guest speaker, the 2019 Stephen A. Obstbaum, MD, Honored Lecture, and a rematch of the popular Glaucoma Fighting Championship Debate between Iqbal "Ike" Ahmed, MD, and Douglas Rhee, MD. "We've got an exciting program this year," Dr. Rhee said. "In just the last year, we've had new medications and a new surgical device introduced into the market. We have long-term follow-up on our existing procedures. But we're also covering some of the fundamentals of diagnostic testing, as well as the tried and true treatment strategies." Cornea Day Sessions at this year's Cornea Day will focus on advanced techniques for anterior segment reconstruction, corneal/lamellar or transplant surgery, preparing the ocular surface for cataract surgery, and controversies and complications. "We are proud of this year's program for Cornea Day," said Francis Mah, MD, one of the program chairs. The day will be full of educa- tional, visual, interactive, and innovative content, he said. "Attendees will want to grab a seat early, as we start the day with an instructional video session on simple and complex reconstruction of the anterior segment. If you want to start doing sutured, glued, or Yamane IOL type procedures, or would like a couple of pearls to make things smoother in the OR, the first session is for you." Dr. Mah said other sessions of the day will feature videos, pearls and tips for a variety of is- sues, and discussion of different conundrums and controversies in corneal surgery.
