T
he ASCRS Film Festival
celebrated 36 years at the
2018 ASCRS•ASOA Annu-
al Meeting this past April
in Washington, D.C. On
April 16, the Film Festival winners
were celebrated with a reception
and awards ceremony. The awards
were established in 1982 to honor
filmmakers in ophthalmology. There
are 10 categories—Cataract Compli-
cations, Cataract/Implant Surgery,
Glaucoma, In-House Productions,
ASCRS Film Festival celebrates
winners and preps for 2019
Instruments & Devices/IOLs, New
Producer, New Techniques, Qual-
ity Teaching, Refractive/Corneal
Surgery, and Special Interest—and
a winner and runner-up are chosen
for each. Of this selection, two are
recognized as the "best of the best,"
and there is one grand prize winner.
