Most notably, after a year of co-editing, and many years of expertly guid- ing the Glaucoma section, Reay Brown, MD, is passing the role of Glaucoma editor entirely over to Nate Radcliffe, MD, who is a dy- namo in the field of glaucoma. We are grateful that Reay is remaining on the Editorial Board as a regular board member. More information is in this issue of EyeWorld starting on page 3. Most importantly, I'd like to commend EyeWorld's exceptional Editorial Board. Their contributions to this ambitious monthly magazine are what makes it the one-stop shop for state-of-the-art information for anterior segment surgeons. We have several longstanding members of our team who cycled off the board when their terms ended at the close of the Annual Meeting. A very special thank you to Lisa Arbisser, MD, Laurence Sperber, MD, Charles Reilly, MD, Husam Ansari, MD, and Parag Parekh, MD, for their Society (OOSS). Our ability to clean and sterilize ophthalmic surgical instruments was being challenged. New specialty-specific guidelines for the sterile processing of ophthalmic surgical instruments were released just prior to the 2018 ASCRS•ASOA Annual Meeting. This document makes evidence-based recommen- dations regarding issues that may be unique to the cleaning and steriliza- tion of intraocular instrumentation. The new guidelines are the product of a 3-year collaboration of the three organizations through a task force chaired by David F. Chang, MD, past ASCRS president, and Nick Mamalis, MD, 2019 ASCRS pres- ident. This important document provides ophthalmology-specific recommendations with the intent of Simply the best meeting ever T here was a lot of excitement at the ASCRS•ASOA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. I have attended quite a few remarkable ASCRS meetings, but this one might have been the best in memory. Howard Fine, MD, one of the most excep- tional ophthalmologists I have ever worked with, was inducted into the ASCRS Hall of Fame. The Charles D. Kelman Innovator's Lecture given by Steve Charles, MD, was outstand- ing, as was the Binkhorst Lecture by Oliver Findl, MD. Refractive Day had more than 1,200 attendees, and Cornea Day and Glaucoma Day were exceptionally well attended with great lectures and education. A new era in the history of ASCRS began. After 37 years, David Karcher handed the reigns of the organization to our new execu- tive director, Steve Speares. Tom Samuelson, MD, gave a stirring speech at the Opening General Session when he became our next ASCRS president. The education and overall quality of the meeting has never been better thanks to the tireless efforts of our program chair, Edward Holland, MD. Twitter nearly exploded during "The Voice of Ophthalmology," which will be back again next year. If you missed some of the papers, you can watch the "Best of ASCRS" session online. In this final session of the meeting, leading experts in cornea, glauco- ma, refractive, and cataract surgery discussed the best papers of the 2018 ASCRS•ASOA Annual Meeting. Sometimes important work done behind the scenes that dramat- ically impacts patient care and our ability to perform ophthalmic sur- gery can go unnoticed. I would like to call attention to a recent collabo- ration of ASCRS, the American Acad- emy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery caption goes here
