ASOA invites all attendees of the ASCRS•ASOA Annual Meeting to its party, spon- sored in part by CareCredit, on April 15, at the Howard Theater in Wash- ington, D.C. Ms. Rowland said the meeting overall is a phenomenal opportunity for networking, connecting with colleagues, and sharing experiences. What's more, the location in the nation's capital this spring holds the promise for cherry blossoms. "The purpose of the meeting is not just education, but to provide an experience," said Samantha Engler, ASOA meeting and program manager. "We want you to come to our meeting and leave it loving your job more than you did when you showed up. You've got to put the spark back in, otherwise it's just a job, and who wants just a job?" EW Contact information Engler: samantha@asoa.org Rowland: Laureen@asoa.org A SOA is ready to energize and inform attendees with not one keynote speaker but two at this year's ASCRS•ASOA An- nual Meeting. In the past, ASOA has kicked off its meeting with an inspiring keynote speaker on Saturday morn- ing. This year, to keep that momen- tum going, there will be a second keynote speaker on Sunday. The meeting, which is taking place in Washington, D.C., April 14–17, also offers targeted, full-day workshops on April 13. "The Opening General Session on Saturday sets the meeting tone, sending everyone off energized and motivated. We are excited to host a second general session on Sunday with another dynamic speaker to continue this energy," said Laureen Rowland, ASOA executive director. Saturday's Opening General Session at 9:00 a.m. will feature keynote speaker Christine Cashen, who will tell the crowd about her mission to "Stop Global Whining." Ms. Cashen, Council of Peers Award for Excellence Speaker Hall of Fame inductee, will use humor to show the audience how their attitude can affect situations, for the better and the worse, and how they should "BOOGIE" (be outstanding or get involved elsewhere). Ms. Rowland will also give an address and unveil an exciting new ASOA initiative. Karen Bachman, COE, Saint George Eye Center, St. George, Utah, will assume the role of ASOA president during the Opening General Session, and several recogni- tions will be made, including the AE Editor's Choice Award, the Pinnacle Award for Volunteerism, and the ASOA Fellow. Joe Mull, a healthcare leader- ship speaker, will deliver the keynote speech on April 15, at 8:30 a.m., on "Motivating Healthcare Teams in an Era of Change, More Work, and Fewer Resources."
