Tomey USA announced the FDA clearance
of its new EM-4000 Specular Microscope.
The device is more accurate due to Tomey's
new core method to count cells. The unit has
a larger screen that moves up and down to
accommodate the user's preference and a
database that can accommodate thousands
of patient images and data. It can also output
data and images to an EHR server or stand-
alone computer.

Topcon Medical Systems announced that the
DRI OCT Triton received 510(k) clearance from
the FDA, becoming the first commercially
available multi-model swept source OCT
system in the U.S. The technology functions
with a 1 µm, 1050 nm light source at a
scanning speed of 100,000 A-scans/second.
The system can visualize from vitreous through
to sclera in a single scan with images that are
not obscured by opacities or hemorrhage. High
density widefield OCT capabilities allow for
macula and optic disc mapping in one scan.

Volk Optical launched a new case design
for its full line of diagnostic and therapeutic
ophthalmic lenses. The new design has been
engineered to withstand 50,000 openings,
without hinge breakage. A durable thermo-
plastic rubber insert cushions the lens, and
a magnetic closure holds the case securely
shut. For quick identification, the case exteri-
ors are color coordinated by lens family and
clearly labeled with the lens name.

Visiometrics added a Touch Screen Package
to its HD Analyzer. The new upgrade option
increases ease of use and reduces the system
footprint for better practice workflow. The HD
Analyzer provides objective measurement of
visual quality to improve patient outcomes
in cataract diagnosis, dry eye treatment, and
refractive surgery. The onboard touch screen
replaces the laptop required to perform
patient exams.
