Dr. Holland said potential topics for the session will be sent out to ASCRS members prior to the meeting for their vote on what they want to hear, and six topics will be chosen for the lectures in the ses- sion. Kicking off the session will be the ASCRS Lecture on Science, Medicine and Technology, and this year's lecturer will be Jeff DeGraff, a clinical professor of business admin- istration at the University of Michi- gan's School of Business, giving his views on "Innovation and the Fu- ture of Healthcare: How to Navigate the Challenges and Opportunities Successfully." Mr. DeGraff's lectures will focus on innovation and creativity, Dr. Holland said, and will cover changes that physicians are going to face in healthcare in the next several years. Mr. DeGraff advises many leading companies around the country and consults with hundreds of the world's most prom- inent firms, and he has developed an array of creative and innovative methodologies and tools to cope with change, Dr. Holland said. Some may know Mr. DeGraff from his best-selling books, and for those who haven't heard of him, he's going to give some insights into the ever-changing world of health- care. "I think everyone will learn something from the presentation," Dr. Holland said. "He's going to cover the business of medicine, and whether you're interested or not, it affects everyone in medicine." Following the ASCRS Lecture on Science, Medicine and Technology will be a special session titled "The Voice of Ophthalmology," which Dr. Holland called a "creative and entertaining teaching platform mod- eled after the television show 'The Voice.'" The session will feature speakers, or "contestants," who will choose a "coach" to support their lecture. The four coaches for the session will be Ike Ahmed, MD, Toronto, Canada, Eric Donnenfeld, MD, Rockville Centre, New York, John Berdahl, MD, Sioux Falls, South March 2018 Sunday Summit back at Annual Meeting Jeff DeGraff Help drive ASCRS education by taking the 6th annual ASCRS Clinical Survey Those participating in the survey at the ASCRS•ASOA Annual Meeting will be entered into drawings for several prizes T he 6th annual ASCRS Clinical Survey will be hosted at the ASCRS•ASOA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The survey is an opportunity for member ophthalmologists to weigh in on their practice patterns and opinions and drive the future of ASCRS educational programming. Data from the survey helps identify areas of educational need for future ASCRS meetings, webinars, publications, and other offerings to provide ASCRS members with the most targeted and valuable content with the ultimate goal of improving patient care. Topics covered by the survey include cataract surgery, astigmatism management, presbyopia correction, laser-assisted cataract surgery, ocular surface, inflammation and infection, corneal refractive surgery, glaucoma, retina, and young physicians. Last year more than 1,100 members took the survey, generating more than 300 unique data elements. After the results are analyzed by ASCRS Clinical Committees, key findings from the ASCRS Clinical Survey will be published in an EyeWorld supplement this fall. The results from the ASCRS Clinical Survey identify areas of educational need and track trends and changes in specific opinions and behaviors. In the ASCRS Clinical Survey 2017 EyeWorld supplement, Rosa Braga-Mele, MD, chair, ASCRS Education Committee, emphasized the importance of member participation in this initiative. "Participation in these surveys ensures that education is formatted to the needs of our membership coupled with direction from experts in the field," Dr. Braga-Mele said. "The results of this survey help ASCRS to enhance membership learning and provide members the opportunity to see how they compare with their peers." How to participate in the survey ASCRS member ophthalmologists can take this 15-minute survey at the Annual Meeting in the Exhibit Hall at the ASCRS Clinical Survey booth #1016, or they can go to ascrs2018.questionpro.com to complete the survey at their convenience. Those who take the survey April 13–16 will be entered into drawings for prizes. Daily drawings will take place during the Annual Meeting with survey participants being included on a rolling basis, so take the survey early to be included in each drawing and increase your chances of winning.
