UPDATE His volunteer work has included charitable eye surgery trips with ASCRS Foundation partner Vision Care. Dr. Yi hopes to inspire other U.S. physicians to give their time and talents to fight preventable cataract blindness. by Natalie Zundel ASCRS Foundation Development Director began a joyous dance—a dance to celebrate her ability to see again. Bringing sight, and joy, to those suffering from preventable blindness is what drives Dr. Yi to do volunteer surgery. Dr. Yi has been volunteering his time to do humanitarian eyecare outside the U.S. for the last 5 years. T he highlight of David Yi, MD's trip to Haiti was when the bandages were removed from a patient's face the day after surgery.
