Ad- mission is $20 for adults, and tours begin daily at 10:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. Laura Plantation is just about an hour from New Orleans. Oak Alley Plantation 3645 Highway 18 Vacherie, LA 70090 225-265-2151 www.oakalleyplantation.com Named for its alley of oak trees, the plantation was built in 1837. It has been used in a number of modern day media, including as a setting for the film Interview with the Vampire. From November through February, the plantation is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily (5:00 p.m. on weekends). Tours of the grounds and house are available for $22 for adults. Oak Alley is just under an hour from New Orleans. Among the stops are Oak Alley Plantation, San Francisco Plantation, Laura Plantation, and Evergreen Plantation. Several of the tour pair- ings include the option for a tour of the cypress swamp and wetlands as well. This tour company also offers a New Orleans city tour, cruises, and other swamp tours. Board a double-decker bus and travel around the city. Stops include Canal Street, Magazine Street Shopping, the French Market, and many others. Choose where you want to visit and get off the bus there. Buses stop at locations every 30 minutes. Streetcars www.norta.com Take one of the five different street- car lines and see the city. Standard fare for a streetcar is just $1.25 or get a "Jazzy Pass" for a 1-day ($3), 3-day ($9), or 31-day ($55) pass to ride the buses and streetcars in the city. The "Greek revival" house formerly produced sugar. Tours of the plantation take place daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with an $20 admission fee for adults.
