Through registration and onsite gifts, the Foundation was hoping to raise $30,000, which would be matched dollar- for-dollar by Bausch + Lomb (Bridgewater, New Jersey) and Johnson & John- son Vision (Santa Ana, California), resulting in $60,000 for charitable care. Attendees blasted through that number, eventually giving a very gen- erous $66,764 in support prior to and during the meeting in Los Angeles. Combined with the $30,000 in matching funds, this is almost $100,000 in support for programs like the Robert Sinskey Eye Institute in Ethiopia and Operation Sight in the U.S. Last year, these programs combined provided charitable eyecare to more than 23,000 individuals. This generosity will allow the Foundation to do even more this year. The board and staff of the ASCRS Foundation are humbled and grateful for this outpouring of support. The wall served as a listing of historical milestones in the development of phaco over 50 years as well as an interactive exhibit for attendees.
