UPDATE practice management surveys can sometimes take days, the data for each ASOAnalytics survey can be en- tered in several hours or less. Results will then be available in real time, following a minimum of 25 practic- es contributing. "Some benchmarking sur- veys take upward of 40 hours to complete, can be costly, and often require the attention of only the most high-level staff. In contrast, ASOAnalytics recognizes that ev- eryone is starved for time; analytics and finances can be intimidating; and budgets are tight," said Dan Chambers, COE, executive director, Key-Whitman Eye Center, Dallas. ASOAnalytics was created in partnership with BSM Consult- ing, Incline Village, Nevada. Ms. Rowland said that ASOA and BSM Consulting recognize that under- standing data can be challenging, so subscribers will have access to educational webinars, articles, and podcasts to help users make the most of the database. This shared insight will include how to analyze data and then use that information to make informed, sound business decisions. It will also allow users to ask questions and learn more about ASOAnalytics from the experts. "The database will continue to become more robust over time as additional surveys are developed and more practices participate and con- tribute. The possibilities are endless," Ms. Rowland said. It's time to harness the power of data—data that can turn into dollars for your ophthalmic practice. Get started today by visiting www. asoanalytics.com. EW Contact information Chambers: dan.chambers@keywhitman.com Rowland: laureen@asoa.org A SOA launched an excit- ing, one-of-a-kind data- tracking tool for ophthal- mology practices at the 2017 ASCRS•ASOA Sym- posium & Congress—ASOAnalytics, an ophthalmic practice management database that offers real-time access to benchmark results for practices around the U.S. The tool, which is exclusive to ASOA members, has been designed to be easy to use, easy to access, and easy to understand. Practice ad- ministrators/management staff and physicians who are ASOA members can subscribe. A practice can have multiple users, but at least one user must be a professional member of ASOA. "Think of ASOAnalytics as your personal benchmarking database," said Laureen Rowland, CAE, ASOA executive director. "Once it's populated by you and other ASOA members, you can access your data anytime and run reports that are di- rectly related to your practice results as well as see how you compare to others in the ASOAnalytics database. Over time, you will be able to assess your results compared to like-kind practices, such as subspecialty, prac- tice size, location, etc." ASOAnalytics is designed to provide "real-time, data-driven decisions." It will evolve with use, as ASOA members input data into the system through short "bite-sized" surveys. And the price is right: The first two benchmarking surveys (Practice Demographics and Provider Produc- tivity) are free. An annual subscrip- tion fee of $250 provides access to all subsequent surveys. Surveys will be released on an ongoing basis to keep results up-to-date and robust. ASOAnalytics will provide meaningful data on topics includ- ing: • Demographics of your marketplace • Provider productivity • Staff productivity • Clinical staff salary and wages • Revenue cycle management Information gathered on these topics will populate the database, providing real-time access to bench- mark results for practices participat- ing around the country.
