73 EW ASCRS•ASOA 2017 last year, with more expected in the coming year. "Last year's race [in New Orle- ans] drew almost 400 runners. They ranged from serious, accomplished racers to casual joggers and walkers," Mr. Bell said. "All are welcome, and all seem to enjoy spending time with friends and colleagues—and taking a short break from the busy meeting to get some exercise." This year's race will be conve- niently hosted downtown at the Los Angeles Convention Center and will include music along with an emcee and warm-up team who will loosen up and enliven the crowd. Welcom- ing remarks and warm-up events start at 6:10 a.m. with runners on their marks by 6:30 a.m. Medals will be awarded to the top finishers, but Mr. Bell emphasized how this event is really about having fun and sup- porting the ASCRS Foundation. "Runners of all levels take part and all contribute to the more im- portant goal of advancing humani- tarian eyecare," he said. The race is open to ASCRS delegates, their families, and citizens in the Los Angeles area. Participants receive a T-shirt with their $35 registration. Transportation will be provided to ASCRS attendees from select hotels. For more information about the Run for Sight and to register ahead of time, please visit www.tracs.net/ ascrs5k. Onsite registration will also be available at the race booth in the registration area of the convention center.
