A course lead by Nir Shoham- Hazon, MD, from 1:00–2:30 p.m. will focus on trabeculectomies and tube shunts, specifically geared for the comprehensive ophthalmologist, with surgical videos highlighting step-by-step techniques. This will be followed by a paper session from 3:00–4:30 p.m. Paper topics will in- clude 1-year results of the Xen stent (Allergan, Dublin), information about a minimally invasive collagen stent, long-term results from using a trabecular micro-bypass stent, and the new use of an ocular sealant in conjunctival glaucoma surgery, to name a few. Monday, May 9 A paper session from 1:00–2:30 p.m. will cover surgical techniques and trabeculotomy for glaucoma pa- tients. Topics will include amniotic membrane-umbilical cord com- pared to pericardium patch grafts in preventing tube exposure, how phacoemulsification parameters in cataract surgery can reduce IOP, and outcomes of gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy. A course specifically for ante- rior segment surgeons wishing to learn about MIGS and trabecular micro-bypass stents will take place from 3:00–4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 Glaucoma offerings on this last day of the meeting will include 2 cours- es. "Tackling Neovascular Glauco- ma," led by Darby Miller, MD, will run from 8:00–9:30 a.m., covering everything from how to recognize this condition to how to manage it. The final glaucoma course from 10:00–11:30 a.m. with instructor Ahmad Khalil, MD, will present options for how to manage a patient with both cataract and glaucoma. This course will include MIGS tech- niques, surgical videos, and interac- tive discussion. Another paper session on MIGS and canaloplasty, from 3:00–4:30 p.m., will explore intracanalicular scaffold microstent with cataract surgery, trabecular micro-bypass stent implantation in conjunction with cataract surgery, gelatin stent implantation with mitomycin-C, ab interno and ab externo canaloplasty, and more. Also at this time is a multimedia and video course led by Ike Ahmed, MD, on tips and new techniques for the use of microstents in glaucoma patients. Sunday, May 8 The morning will start off with a symposia sponsored by the ASCRS Glaucoma Clinical Committee on how to use MIGS for safer surgeries. Presentations from 8:00–9:30 a.m. will include discussion of different implants and surgical techniques. Attendees will learn about how to incorporate the trabecular micro- bypass device into practice, the acceptance of the honor will be the "Surgical Glaucoma Spotlight" paper session, which will present cost-ef- fective glaucoma surgeries, including how to optimize trabeculectomy techniques, conducting glaucoma surgery at a slit lamp, ab interno trabeculotomy, gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy, com- bining MIGS procedures, and more. Other afternoon offerings include "Medical Management Case Presentations" from 3:30–3:45 p.m., "Cataract Cornea Crossover Talk" from 3:45–4:00 p.m., and "Video Case Presentations: Complications and a 'Reay of Hope'" from 4:00– 5:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7 On the first official day of the meet- ing, glaucoma coverage will include a paper session on MIGS from 1:00–2:30 p.m., where physicians will present research involving the first-in-human feasibility study for supraciliary microstent implantation with viscoexpansion for reducing IOP, results from a 3-year, multi- center study on combined cataract surgery and supraciliary microstent A day-by-day guide to glaucoma symposia, paper sessions, and courses C omprehensive ophthal- mologists and glaucoma specialists will not want to miss the programming pre- pared for ASCRS Glaucoma Day and the ASCRS•ASOA Sympo- sium & Congress in New Orleans, May 6–10. Symposia, sessions, and courses will include the latest tech- niques, technologies, and pearls for successful diagnosis, treatment, and management of the condition that can cause blindness. Friday, May 6 Prior to the annual meeting is a full subspecialty day, ASCRS Glaucoma Day, developed by the ASCRS Glaucoma Clinical Committee specifically with the cataract surgeon in mind. Morning events include a wel- come from program chair Douglas Rhee, MD, followed by a paper session on imaging tips and technol- ogies, including electrophysiology pattern electroretinogram, micro- perimetry, and OCT progression detection. ASCRS and the American Glaucoma Society will host a joint symposium, "Angle Closure Glauco- ma—Expanding My Angle Closure Surgical Toolkit," from 9:25–10:25 a.m. This symposium will feature papers followed by discussion on topics such as when cataract surgery is or isn't appropriate for glauco- ma patients, the glaucoma likeli- hood scale, and cataract surgery in nanophthalmic eyes. ASCRS Glaucoma Day interna- tional guest speaker Juan Batlle, MD, will speak from 10:50–11:05 a.m., followed by a paper session about the "Practical Focus on Medi- cations and Lasers: Keeping Up with Today's Changes and Tomorrow's Realities." Afternoon events include the 2016 Stephen A.
