replaced by true international rep-
resentation, and that is a wonderful
advance for surgeons and patients.
I am fortunate to make interna-
tional trips regularly, and on every
visit to any continent, I return with
a new and exciting idea that chang-
es the way I practice our profession.
EyeWorld, as the leading monthly
ophthalmic publication, is distribut-
ed worldwide to more than 24,000
readers, bringing new ideas in both
print and digital media.
Several years ago, EyeWorld
added an international editor to stay
abreast of the advances occurring
outside of the U.S. That position
has been held for the past 5 years by
John Vukich, MD, who has report-
ed brilliantly and led this section
with tremendous insight. John is an
extraordinarily capable individual.
He is an accomplished cataract and
refractive surgeon, superb lecturer
who is in constant demand, and has
been an asset to both EyeWorld and
ASCRS. Perhaps for this reason, we
have not been content to leave John
alone on his international editor's
island at EyeWorld. We welcome
John as the new ASCRS Refractive
Surgery Clinical Committee chair,
and he is doing a great job with that
committee.
As a testimonial to John's
abilities, we have decided to replace
him as international editor with
not one but six world-renowned
ophthalmologists. We welcome
Graham Barrett, MD, from Austra-
lia, Oliver Findl, MD, from Austria,
Michael Knorz, MD, from Germany,
Boris Malyugin, MD, from Russia,
Ronald Yeoh, MD, from Singa-
pore, and Roberto Zaldivar, MD,
from Argentina. These exceptional
ophthalmologists are all well known
for their contributions to cataract,
cornea, and refractive surgery, and
we are delighted that they will share
the international EyeWorld editor-
ship, bringing new perspectives and
wisdom to our publication. EW
