System from Abbott Medical Optics received
U.S. regulatory clearance. The system
captures more than 1,200 micro readings
of the eye, as well as identifies the shape of
the cornea, its curvature, how light passes
through the eye, and pupil diameter under
different lighting conditions in a single
3-second scan.

Adaptica launched the VisionFit Wearable
Adaptive Refractor. VisionFit is an electronic,
mobile, and wearable system of adaptive
lenses that performs a subjective sight
examination, and replaces the need for trial
glasses and the manual/electronic phoropter.
By using the VisionFit in combination with
the 2WIN binocular handheld refractometer
and vision analyzer, the operator is able to
perform an objective and subjective refraction
examination in only a few minutes.

Bausch + Lomb launched a 23-gauge
fragmentation needle for the Stellaris PC
Vision Enhancement System. The new
ultrasonic needle design is used during
vitreoretinal procedures to effectively remove
the lens material from the posterior cham-
ber of the eye with balanced irrigation and
aspiration through 23-gauge incisions. The
23-gauge fragmentation needle helps balance
the inflow and outflow in the eye and achieve
a suture-less wound closure.

Akorn launched Phenylephrine HCl
Ophthalmic Solution, USP, 2.5% and
10%, a topical mydriatic solution. The
solution is an alpha1 adrenergic receptor
agonist indicated to dilate the pupil and
is available in 2-, 5-, and 15-mL fill sizes,
depending on concentration.
