EW NEWS & OPINION 12 August 2015 Ophthalmology and Strabismus will take place from September 4–6. The program features a vari- ety of learning opportunities for attendees, including symposia, free paper sessions, instructional courses, poster presentations, video sessions, and workshops. Following the opening cere- mony, this year's Binkhorst Medal Lecture will be given by Richard Packard, MD, London, on "The Evolution of the Capsulotomy: From Crude Forceps to Precision Laser." This year's main symposia high- light a number of key topics. On Saturday, September 5, the first sym- posium, a combined session of the ESCRS and EuCornea, will highlight "Cataract Surgery in Ocular Surface Disease." Presenters will speak on topics such as meibomian gland dysfunction, dry eye, limbal cell dysfunction, herpetic eyes, allergies, and epithelial basement membrane dystrophy. The topic of age in eye dis- ease will also be a highlight of the sessions, with the "The Ageing Eye: Can We Delay or Reverse the Process?" featuring presentations on how age impacts the eye and other issues that can arise. The femtosecond laser contin- ues to be an interesting topic for surgeons around the world, and the ESCRS meeting will again have a ses- sion devoted to this. "FLACS: What Have We Learned and What Can We Expect?" will feature presentations on the different laser units, FLACS for difficult eyes, current studies, and the FLACS ESCRS registry. Symposia on Tuesday, Septem- ber 8 and Wednesday, September 9 will cover presbyopia and late dislocation of IOLs. The presbyopia session will discuss treatment and types of IOLs and implants for this. The session on IOL dislocation will focus on studies of dislocated IOLs, why this happens, and the best ways to treat the problem. The Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (JCRS) will also hold a symposium during Sunday's programming. The International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS) symposium will take place on Tues- day evening, covering topics such as corneal reshaping, dysfunctional lenses, corneal refractive surgery, presbyopia, and some of the latest innovations. EW This year's meeting will take place from September 5–9 T his year's European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) Congress will take place from Sep- tember 5–9 at the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona, Spain. This is the 33rd meeting of the ESCRS and will feature a Glaucoma Day.
