Saturday, April 18 The missing Link: Integrating Advanced Ocular Surface Regimens & Routines to Improve Refractive Cataract Outcomes Supported by educational grants from Alcon Laboratories Inc., TearScience, and RPS Additional grants pending. 7:00 – 7:30 Am Registration (and breakfast) 7:30 – 9:30 Am Program Program Chairs: Eric D. Donnenfeld, mD Terry Kim, mD Educational Objectives • Recognize symptoms and relate common ocular surface problems and their consequences for optical image quality to reduced outcomes in refractive cataract surgery, particularly with the advanced technology refractive cataract patient; • Identify strategies and processes to integrate new tools for evaluating ocular surface health into routine preoperative protocols; and • Develop protocols and treatment plans that provide symptomatic relief and improve the health of the ocular surface and tear film sufficiently to result in accurate preoperative testing and optimize visual outcomes of surgery. This live educational activity is approved for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . Step by Step: Clinical and Practical Implementation of Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery Supported by educational grants from Alcon Laboratories Inc., Bausch and Lomb, and LENSAR. Additional grants pending. 11:30 Am – 12:00 Pm Registration (and lunch) 12:00 – 1:00 Pm Program Program Chair: Richard L. Lindstrom, mD Educational Objectives • Analyze the quantity and quality of the available literature and studies comparing LACS to conventional cataract surgery; • Describe different reimbursement and practice flow models that permit the viable integration of LACS into a refractive cataract practice; and • Assess the impact of improving the management of residual corneal error, pre-cleaved lenticular material and the ocular surface in LACS and premium IOL patients. This live educational activity is approved for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM . The X Factors: Three Areas That Will Improve Refractive Cataract Surgery Outcomes Supported by educational grants from Alcon Laboratories Inc. and Omeros Additional grants pending. 5:00 – 5:30 Pm Registration (and reception) 5:30 – 6:30 Pm Program Program Chair: Edward J. Holland, mD Educational Objectives • Distinguish predisposing factors putting patients at higher risk for inflammatory reaction after cataract surgery; • Identify the true impact of ocular inflammation levels on outcomes in refractive cataract surgery; • Develop a protocol for acceptable levels of post-cataract surgery inflammation; and • Identify new agents and acquire strategies to eliminate inflammation and relieve pain by maximizing the penetra- tion of anti-inflammatory agents into target issues. This live educational activity is approved for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM .
