It will also include a surgical skills wet lab on Friday, August 22 for residents and fellows. Speakers and panelists will discuss and debate managing com- plications in cataract surgery, the value and clinical applications of femtosecond lasers, techniques for maximizing outcomes of trabeculec- tomy, and the latest advances in microinvasive glaucoma surgery. Other topics highlighted will be ways to improve results with refractive surgery and maximize IOL calculations, with an emphasis on the value of new technologies and calculations in challenging cases. Clinicians will also address topics in external diseases and corneal surgeries. "We have a great faculty with vast experience that isn't afraid to debate and challenge each other," Dr. Weikert said. He and Dr. Koch said that the video sessions and case presenta- tions would be highlights of the meeting. It is during these sessions that physicians learn the most from the mistakes and challenges faced by their peers, Dr. Weikert said. ASOA will produce the practice management track and develop the optometry program in conjunction with the Integrated Ophthalmic- Managed Eyecare Delivery Clinical Committee. These one-day programs will take place on Saturday, August 23. The practice management program provides attendees the opportunity to evaluate the latest techniques for improving productiv- ity and benchmarking in their practices, formulate strategies to implement ICD-10 coding, discuss legislative and regulatory compliance issues, and review new technologies and social medial tools to enhance practice marketing. The American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses will host its regional meeting, the San Antonio Ophthalmic Roundup Nurse and Technician Program, in conjunction with the ASCRS•ASOA programs. Course directors Eileen T. Beltramba, RN, CRNO, and Cheryl A. Crouse, RN, BSN, will develop the one-and-a-half day program, taking place on August 22–23. The nurses program will feature courses covering the handling of delicate microsurgical instrumenta- tion, updates on the advances in medical and surgical glaucoma treatments, ocular manifestations of pediatric genetic disorders, femtosecond laser cataract surgery, advances in retinal surgery, comparisons of current IOL technology, and more.
