EW NEWS & OPINION 11 ming is open to doctors as well as practice administrators. In the past couple of years ASOA has greatly expanded the breadth and the depth of programming it of- fers. One low fee gives attendees ac- cess to programming that includes more than 300 courses (CME and COE accredited) with 175 sessions covering all aspects of managing the practice. Moreover, there are seven specialty forums, roundtables, and new interactive panels. Attendees can go to as many courses as they wish, as there are no course fees. In addition to the regular courses there is a series of optional seminars, the ABO review course, the certified ophthalmic executive (COE) review course, and the COE exam. Attendees do not have to reg- ister for the Annual Meeting to regis- ter for the COE exam, optional seminars, or the review courses. They can also obtain credits and cre- dentials through ASOA program- ming for COE, CME, AAPC, ABO, and CASC (AEU). The programming is organized into the following management tracks and specialty forums: • Advanced Administrator • ASC • Coding • Cosmetic Services • General Practice Management • Hearing Services • New Administrator • Optical • Retina In each of these specialty fo- rums the content is extensive. For example, in the ASC forum, chaired by Regina Boore, R.N., M.S., industry leaders and subject matter experts will cover a wide variety of opera- tional and regulatory issues such as Medicare compliance and updates, patient safety, medication manage- ment, credentialing and privileging, infection control, and benchmark- ing. Professional development ses- sions focus on collaboration, leader- ship, human resource management, finance and accounting, and are de- signed to expand attendees' knowl- edge base and give them tools to take back to their practices. Topical issues such as building a retina serv- ice and integration of the femtosec- ond laser into the ASC operation will also be covered. A reduced rate registration is available for ASOA members. Non- members may also register. For de- tails go to www.asoa.org and select 2012 Meeting-ASOA Congress in the righthand column. EW December 2011 ACBB Surgery STOP DRY EYE FAST!
