22 | EYEWORLD | FALL 2026 ASCRS NEWS GOVERNMENT RETIONS UPDATE by Susanne Hewitt, MD ASCRS Government Relations Committee Chair Participants met with more than 100 leg- islators from 24 states. Our members met with their legislators to discuss ongoing problems with the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and to urge support for legislation addressing prior authorization, step therapy, adding an inflation update to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS), and updating the budget-neutrality requirements in the MPFS. This year, ASCRS sent 16 representatives to the Fly-In, including members of ASOA and staff. I n July, I joined ASCRS members in Washington, D.C., for the Alliance of Specialty Medicine Legis- lative Fly-In. Every year, the Fly-In is organized by the Alliance to bring the 16 mem- ber medical specialty societies to Washington, D.C., to learn about policy issues affecting the specialty medical community and to meet directly with our representatives and senators to lobby for our policy initiatives. ASCRS members participate in the 2026 Washington, D.C., Legislative Fly-In ASCRS members, ASOA members, and staff represented ASCRS at this year's Fly-In in Washington, D.C. They met with legislators and participated in the Alliance of Specialty Medicine's programming. Source: ASCRS
