IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS Risk of Contamination: Do not allow the tip of the dispensing container to contact the eye, surrounding structures, fingers, or any other surface in order to minimize contamination of the solution. Serious damage to the eye and subsequent loss of vision may result from using contaminated solutions. Use with Contact Lenses: XDEMVY contains potassium sorbate, which may discolor soft contact lenses. Contact lenses should be removed prior to instillation of XDEMVY and may be reinserted 15 minutes following its administration. ADVERSE REACTIONS: The most common adverse reaction with XDEMVY was instillation site stinging and burning which was reported in 10% of patients. Other ocular adverse reactions reported in less than 2% of patients were chalazion/hordeolum and punctate keratitis. DB=Demodex blepharitis; MGD=meibomian gland disease. *STUDY DESIGN: A retrospective chart review for DB by 7 investigators at 6 eye care clinics of the case records of patients (N=1032) who underwent a slit lamp examination, regardless of chief complaint. DB was defined by the presence of collarettes. 1 † In SATURN-1 and SATURN-2, the safety and efficacy of XDEMVY for the treatment of DB were evaluated in a total of 833 patients (415 of whom received XDEMVY) in two 6-week, randomized, multicenter, double-masked, vehicle-controlled studies. Patients were randomized to either XDEMVY or vehicle at a 1:1 ratio, dosed twice daily in each eye. 3 ‡ 44% and 55% of patients on XDEMVY in SATURN-1 (N=209) and SATURN-2 (N=193), respectively, achieved a significant improvement in their eyelids (reduction of collarettes to no more than 2 collarettes per upper lid) at Day 43 vs 7% (N=204) and 12% (N=200) of patients on vehicle (P<0.01 in each trial). 3 § ERSA was a randomized pilot study evaluating the safety and efficacy of XDEMVY administered twice daily, ~12 hours apart, for the treatment of DB patients with MGD (n=20). 3,10 There were no treatment-related serious adverse events. 10 In the pilot ERSA study § : Improvement in number of meibomian glands yielding any liquid secretion at Day 43 in patients treated with XDEMVY (vs baseline value of 7.0 (N=21); (P<0.01) 10 Patients experienced collarette reduction to ≤2 collarettes (Grade 0) at Day 43 with XDEMVY, consistent with the results seen in the pivotal studies 3,10 Within the meibomian gland, mites may cause 6-9 : Inflammation and obstruction of the gland orifices Gland atrophy or loss Decrease in meibum quality Reduced gland expressibility In a combined analysis at Day 43, XDEMVY is tough on mites, easy on patients 2,3 LEARN MORE
