ATARACT

Cataract Editor
and being Cataract editor for EyeWorld. I have
seen the society and this publication evolve over
the past 20+ years to be an amazing education
leader and provider of the most up-to-date
information.
In this issue, the Cataract section includes
many pearls around refractive cataract surgery,
particularly with respect to patient education
for IOL choices and refractive outcomes, biom-
etry, and new IOL technology. It is important to
educate our patients with true informed consent
with regard to not only choices but expectations
and considerations. Biometry is the cornerstone
of best practices and good outcomes. New IOL
technology is exciting to help optimize patient
outcomes and increasing our portfolios.
I am so proud to be part of this journey
with EyeWorld, and I cannot wait to see what
the next 25 years bring.
A momentous year
T
his is a momen-
tous year for
EyeWorld being
that it is the 25th
anniversary of
the publication. I find it
incredible that I have been
reading it and involved in
some manner with ASCRS or EyeWorld for the
last 23 years. When I finished my training in
1998, I joined ASCRS as one of my first orga-
nizations. I found the Annual Meeting such a
positive influence on my learning and career
focus. EyeWorld always gave me a great synopsis
of what was new and up and coming. ASCRS
and EyeWorld have helped shape my career and
have helped me make some incredibly invalu-
able friendships. My journey included being a
member of the ASCRS Cataract Clinical Com-
mittee, being chair of the Cataract Clinical Com-
mittee, being on the ASCRS Governing Board,
