OCTOBER 2020 | EYEWORLD | 13 by Eric Donnenfeld, MD Chief Medical Editor Contact Donnenfeld: ericdonnenfeld@gmail.com T he pandemic has caused a great many changes for our med- ical practices and per- sonally. The necessity of change even in the face of adversity, in some cases, has made us better. EyeWorld is embarking on its own major change as it seeks to better serve ASCRS membership. In the 2021 calendar year, EyeWorld will publish quarterly, rather than monthly. With this change in frequency, EyeWorld, as the official publication of ASCRS, will increase its mem- bership focus through quality reporting on pertinent clinical topics and ASCRS news. We'll also take this opportunity to boost EyeWorld's relevance and timeliness through use of our digital assets to keep the membership abreast of late-breaking stories and pressing issues in the field of ophthalmology. We are enhancing our commitment, with the help of our Edito- rial Board, to discussing what's important to anterior segment ophthalmologists. Whether it's an update from important meetings, news from within the organization or from government agencies impacting our career, information on new drugs or devices, focus stories on surgical Change for the better Correcting residual refractive error – p. 52 Treating dry eye – p. 54 Managing glaucoma – p. 60 Creating capsulotomies – p. 62 Cataract surgery anesthesia – p. 66 SMILE lenticules in patients with corneal defects show promising outcomes — P. 81 Volume 23, number 9 September 2018 The news magazine of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery Preparing for anterior vitrectomy — P. 38 Refractive surprise in glaucoma patients — P. 50 Tear film analysis — P. 68 digital.eyeworld.org An ASCRS Publication Products that could change how you practice New and emerging options that may help with: USA WWW.EYEWORLD.ORG ASCRS APRIL 2019 • VOLUME 24, NUMBER 4 A BRAND A BRAND NEW DAY FOR SURGEONS. Each issue will be broken down into sections highlighting ASCRS news, cataract, refractive, glaucoma, cornea, and practice management topics. The issues will be larger than the typical monthly size to which you have grown accustomed, so a wide variety of articles will be found in each quarterly issue. To accommodate this change, EyeWorld's next issue will publish in December 2020. Here you will get a glimpse of this new format, with a larger issue that still covers timely and relevant clinical topics. This issue will take a look back at some topics particularly relevant to 2020 and will address a variety of clinical topics that we think our readers will find compelling. With these changes and added value in each issue, EyeWorld will be a true ASCRS member benefit. The issue will be mailed to ASCRS members and online access will be available to members with credentials as well. Thank you for your ongoing interest and support of EyeWorld. We strive to bring our readers the most educational and information- al content and look forward to continuing to bring these stories to you in the future.
