12 | EYEWORLD | JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2020 ASCRS NEWS A SCRS recently announced the 2020 Thriving Practice, which includes intimate regional gatherings de- signed to provide practical, how-to solutions to help members adapt and flourish within an ever-changing environment. The 2020 Thriving Practice consists of a two-part evening series that will take place in different cities. It will provide programming aimed at either practicing ophthalmologists or residents and fellows, with each program fo- cused on the unique needs of each audience. Thursday programs are specifically de- signed to further professional development among practicing anterior segment surgeons and comprehensive ophthalmologists. The curriculum contains education designed to help attendees navigate the business of ophthalmol- ogy amidst challenging times by exploring the expansion of patient services and positioning your practice for success. The comprehensive programs also provide essential instruction necessary to advance refractive cataract surgical skills. Led by ASCRS and ASOA thought lead- ers, these programs are guaranteed to advance the attendees' business and clinical acumen. Friday programming was created especial- ly for residents and fellows and is specifically designed to further professional development in the early career stage. The curriculum contains essential education to help young eye surgeons The 2020 Thriving Practice ASCRS takes new program series on the road, looking at keys to practice success navigate the business of ophthalmology and to provide the foundational instruction nec- essary to advance refractive cataract surgical skills. Led by ASCRS thought leaders, including members of the ASCRS Young Eye Surgeons Clinical Committee, this program is guaranteed to advance the business and clinical acumen of young eye surgeons. The following cities will host an upcoming program: • New Orleans, Louisiana: February 6–7 • Atlanta, Georgia: March 5–6 • Raleigh, North Carolina: March 26–27 • Baltimore, Maryland: April 16–17 The Thursday program, focused on the practicing ophthalmologist, will highlight keys for both practice success and clinical success. Topics on the practice side will include ana- lyzing your practice, educating patients and patient consent, looking at assets and capital, and more. On the clinical side, the program will include such topics as identifying and screening patients, dry eye and the ocular surface, elec- tive technologies and services, and glaucoma treatment. The Friday Young Eye Surgeons program will highlight overarching topics, such as keys for professional success, getting started in refractive cataract surgery, and an overview of ASCRS membership and benefits.
