Q: How has your practice changed after implementing the LENSAR Laser System? Very early on after using the LENSAR System, it was clear that our workflow was quicker and patients were seeing better results in the early postoperative period. First, being able to center the capsulorhexis with perfect alignment positively impacts effective lens position and results in better outcomes, especially for my premium IOL patients. This is also partly due to the cataract density imaging feature. My preferred fragmentation patterns are automatically optimized for my patients based on morphology and density of the nucleus on a scale of 1 to 5. Finally, laser energy and time are both reduced, and there is very minimal phaco time needed, which ultimately leads to less inflammation and faster visual recovery for our patients. Q: How does the IntelliAxis Refractive Capsulorhexis feature give you an edge when managing astigmatism? A: With LENSAR, we have a digital and wireless upload of our preoperative corneal topography and iris registration. Because of that, we don't have to worry about cyclotorsion while we have a patient in the operating room. It's very easy to find the IntelliAxis Refractive Capsulorhexis tabs for the toric IOLs. I'm able to perfectly align the lens right on the tabs, yielding better results and an easier surgery.
