60 EW RESIDENTS May 2013 Review continued from page 58 studies of glistenings in the literature. Despite current data suggesting that glistenings may be insignificant, the longest published followup durations have been barely above a decade, so it is unknown how these lenses will behave at longer time periods. Conclusion Choosing an IOL is a multifactorial decision that must weigh surgeon experience, IOL properties, cost, and comfort with the unknown longterm outcomes of the lens. This well-designed, prospective comparison gives insight into two important postoperative considerations. PCO does not significantly differ between the AcrySof SA60AT and Sensar AR40e, and glistenings do not appear to affect contrast sensitivity. This is useful information in the ongoing effort to improve cataract surgery outcomes and prevent secondary procedures. EW References 1. Behndig A, Monestam E.
